Coach Sean Buzzard

 

Sean Buzzard returns to the staff of Carnegie Mellon as Head Coach after serving as an assistant back in 2007-2008.

 

Buzzard become involved with lacrosse during his Active duty Air Force career, playing on Republic of Panama military/government squad with AF and Naval academy grads as well as embassy personnel who played at NCAA level. Upon returning to Pittsburgh, he was immediately caught up in coaching the sport that was experiencing rapid growth in Western Pennsylvania. 

 

Sean progressed from youth coach, to JV, then eventually to Varsity Head Coach with the North Hills Boys program. North Hills was 39-30 with Buzzard as Head Coach. He was named WPSLA coach of the year in 2006 when the team went 16-5. 

 

As mentioned above, Buzzard moved into MCLA coaching by joining the CMU staff in 2007-2008. In 2010 Buzzard was named Head Coach at the University of Pittsburgh and lead the team on a successful four year stretch that included 9-3 record in 2011 and a 12-3 record and an At-large bid to the national tournament in 2012.  Buzzard was named CCLA D1 Coach of the year in 2012 and 2013.

Buzzard continues to serve as the secretary of the CCLA conference within the MCLA. He has had articles featured in MCLA magazine, has also been a speaker at the US Lacrosse National Convention, and has also been a consultant for many combines to include the 2008 NLL entry draft combine. 

 

Buzzard completed his MS in Instructional Leadership at Robert Morris University in 2007, and currently resides in Pittsburgh with his wife and 2 sons.
